Strangers

There were many in the multitude who knoweth not only their own soul, but the soul of another.

Yet many knoweth not this knowledge.

Each soul knowing another; was yet still alone.

And the teacher saweth this void.

And he sayeth unto them:

"Oh ye, who doubteth love,
Know ye that ye are not alone,
Ye are one with each other,
Yet ye knoweth not; are unknown."

"And if thy selfish wallowing,
Keepeth yet thee apart,
Know that ye are yet in sin,
To feel naught with your Godly heart"

"For ye are one,
As dusk and the dawn,
Thou flowest into each other,
Yet thou flowest not."

And those that did know each other, were estranged in a familiar union; torn far asunder as familiar strangers.

It is; ye are.

And then, when everyone was full of doubt, sayest he, "the only place, where ye becometh unholy is in thine doubt."

"A seed doubteth not that it is a seed. Nor doest it doubt it is not a seed."

"It only groweth in both its belief and its non-belief."

"It is."

"Ye are."

"Life doth bring upon us many an unfathomable plot."

"It is."

"Ye are."

And the multitude, yet did understand naught.

And yet: they were; and yet ye are.

The companion

And it came to pass that a man nearing his fifties did come forward and enquire: "And what of God? I have followed him steadfastly, yet in my time of need, I feel not his presence?"

And then said he, "verily, I say unto you, when thou walkest upon the beach, thou seest footprints other than thine own. Those footprints are Gods."

And the man did say, "yet see I no footprints upon the beach when in times of trouble I do walk alone"

And the crowd was filled with a deep and sombre silence.

And then, a mother carrying a child did come forward.

And thus spake he, "just as that woman carries forth her child, with love and affection, so carryeth the almighty upon his shoulders, the souls of men in trouble. The footprints that thou seest walking alone, are not yours but Gods"

Religion

A man walked along the road in the darkness. Now, he saw an entity coiled in mysterious form and his heart was filled with fear and a cloud of darkness fell upon him.

"'Tis a cobra", he cried.

The road was desolate and heavily laden with weeds and none were there to hear his cry. He turned back upon the path and returned from whence he came.

The next morning, a wandering wayfarer chanced upon the very same bespoke entity.

"'Tis a rope", he exclaimed. "How very useful, it shall be a companion in my travels."

Two men met with the same entity anon.

One was filled with fear with the darkness of ignorance.

The other filled with joy with the light of knowledge.

Two experiences were experienced.

Both were experiences.

Which was true?

More, importantly, which was true-er?

Clearly the experience in which knowledge made the wayfarer glad was more true.

But can there be an ultimate experience, with the ultimate truth?

If there exists an ultimate experience; an ultimate truth, then it is one that cannot be falsified.

Yet, there are multiple experiences in our ignorant lives.

The man of knowledge knows these experiences are untrue, for further knowledge can falsify them.

The unknowledgeable, experience "Maya". The ultimate truth is Brahman.

Religion is a human experience.

There are multiple religious experiences.

Is there a true religion?

If there is a true religion, then how is human experience tied down to so many different religious experiences?

Religion therefore is Maya.

The ultimate religious experience is one. It is the experience of the Brahman.

Brahman is the physical concept of singularity.

However, the paths to reach singularity are multiple.

Brahman is God.

Light

And then before the break of dawn, a strange aura grew around their countenance. And the children did frolic in their innocence.

And it came to pass, that the women in their midst grew restless. For their children were restless.

And the men knew not what to do.

Then did the spirit of the Holy Ghost come upon them. And they were at peace.

And the children grew closest to the light whilst the parents were disbelieving.

And then was heard a voice: "Behold these children for ye were once them".

And the multitude was filled with fear.

Worldview

When the manifest is manifest,
The unmanifest is unknown,
When the unmanifest is manifest,
The manifest is unknowm.

And in the unmanifest,
The manifest is an illusion,
And in the manifest,
The unmanifest is a mirage.

Yet one is because,
Of the other,
And none,
Is because of both.

Singularity,
Because,
Of,
Duality.

Duality,
Because,
Of,
Singularity.

And both,
Are sides,
Of a single,
Coin.

An octave,
Part of,
A musical,
Rejoin.

A symphony,
In dissonance,,
A cacophony,
In resonance.

And in the merging thoughts,
Grows the seed of illumination,
That grows brighter each instance,
In its seat of rumination.

Black and white,
White and black,
Each from,
The other is.

Yin and Yang,
Tooth and fang,
And then,
The telephone rang.

Lust

And then a young man of sinewy build did approach the prophet.

"And what of lust, O' ye of many words?"

And the prophet sayest unto him:
"Be not a slave,
To that sweet,
Illusion,
Youth shall last you,
But a while,
Yet love shall,
Lead you to,
Reunion,
To present,
Kindred,
Perhaps,
Unkind."

The dawn before

And as they were awakening, the dawn grew in its sanguine splendour.

And the birds of the morning did sing their sweet song.

And while the music of the spheres did play in the early morn; the sages of the yesternight did sleep.

And in their sleep they dreamt prophetic dreams;

There was a damsel. All the men were enamoured of her. The hero; the prophet, knew her best.

Yet she liked him not in preference to another.

And so did the prophet know the dream.

And so did the dream transpire.

And when all had come to pass, Thomas asked and what of the promise that's unfulfilled?

And the priests amongst us did ask; "And what of thee?; O' doubting Thomas?"

And then spake the wisemen. Thomas is a fool. He sees what hast twenty years in the passing.

Yet he is Thomas.

A hush fell upon the council.

The Soothsayer

And there was amongst them, a soothsayer.

And when the hush grew upon the crowd; upon the fall of night, the soothsayer was found by the only fire.

"In sooth, I say unto thee. This fire is the lot of the faithful."

And the faithful, amongst them did question why.

And then did the soothsayer say:

"For the faithful shall burn in this fire but shalt feel naught."

And the ones of little faith did mock him:

"And what of us, O 'enlightened' one?"

And thus spake the soothsayer:

"Of ye, I knowest not.
Ye are the cold that chills,
Ye are the knife,
That kills.

Ye are the weapon,
Unforged,
Ye are the link,
That's forced.

Ye are the scar,
That's borne,
Ye are the stars,
Unshone.

Yet are ye,
Of much import,
For ye are,
The lessons taught."

The Mist

And it came to pass that upon the river, there gathered a mighty mist.

And the fishermen amongst the multitude did ask "What of our fish?"

"How can we gather fish when we can see naught anon?"

And then a child amongst them said:

"I am hungry."

And the elders were of guilty disposition.

And it came to pass, that the mist grew more and more.

And soon only voices were heard.

At first:

"Where are our nets?"

"We cannot see them."

Then:

"We shall make our way to the granary."

"Aye. It is sound."

"But the granary is empty."

Then, the child:

"I caught a fish."

Soon (another child):

"Me too."

The fish multiply in the mist.

Soon, everyone has a fish.

The mist passes.

The children are at the banks of the river.

The banks are full of clay fish.

The nets are full of fish.

Judgement

And it came to pass that that she asked me; what of judgement?

For 'tis it not that we judge based on the past?

Verily, I say unto you, just as time exists every instance but ye perceiveth it but anon, judgement exists only in thine mind.

The chaff calleth not the corn virtuous nor the corn the chaff an impostor.

From one, the other is. Each is from the other. And both are from nothing. And nothing is everything.

So what of good or evil? Look inwards and the outward view shall change. But beware, for if ye shalt look outward alone, the inward view shalt seem askew.

Mirages, in the desert do appear. 'tis but their disposition to disappear.

Be not the mirage.

See the oasis.

Time

Time is that which is no thing and yet brings with it every perceived thing.
Time is like light, which you do not see. only what it reflects on is seen.
Incidence. Reflection.
Cause. Effect.
The realm of Time to the unseeing I is that of causality.
yet the higher Self knows that there are no causes in the physical universe, merely effects.
And so there is no answer to the question: What came first the chicken or the egg?
because the answer is beyond Time
the answer is they came together.

Time is a function of consciousness, and not the other way round.
Consciousness is a function of itself. it is its own means and no end in sight.

Time is life's most captivating illusion.

Allow me to use a local example:
for those familiar with local trains in Mumbai there is no doubt that once you leave Churchgate station and travelling north you will pass the following in this order:
Churchgate > Marine Lines > Charni Road > Grant Road..

that is the order of passage.

so answer me: Does Charni Road come into being only after you have passed Marine Lines?
No, it's there. you just get there after you pass Marine Lines.
are you with me?

What you call Time is the just perception of one event or many in sequence leading to others..

fortunately or unfortunately, the sequence is a matter of perception
the fact is, everything is happening Now
that's the only time there ever was, is or will be.
that is the way of your higher Self, the Seer.
and the Seer is eternal.
Now what do we fervent timekeepers know of eternity?

"And all our yesterdays have lighted fools
The way to dusty death."

Wisdom

Then they asked me, what about wisdom?

Wisdom does not speak for itself.

Wisdom only speaks when it is spoken to.

Wisdom believes in silence.

Wisdom believes in the futility of words.

Wisdom recognises feelings as imposters.

Wisdom grows within you and from you it spreads to others.

Wisdom is that which can be understood but never felt.

Wisdom is a mirage in the desert of feeling.

And wisdom is knowing that wisdom is that mirage.

Wisdom seeks you, and evades you when you seek it.

True wisdom grows dim through time as it is lost and rediscovered in equal measure creating an illusion of dimness and brightness simultaneously.

Wisdom is knowing that wisdom is cyclic.

That time is cyclic.

And wisdom is knowing that wisdom too shall grow with time.

Vengeance

And there might come a time when your heart is full of negativity.

When someone has hurt you and you feel like hurting them back.

People say there is a time for vengeance but what is vengeance?

One man's vengeance is another man's torment. And one man's torment is another man's wrongdoing.

And the cycle of wrongdoing and torment and vengeance and torment and re-vengeance, has created enough blood in our history.

Do we really want to continue this tradition of an eye for an eye?

The only solution for a wrongdoing is an apology and forgiveness.

There is no point in bearing grudges to eternity.

What shall you gain from that negative feeling?

Let it go.

Embrace each other as brothers.

People will look upon you strangely as you offer your other cheek. But the solution to wrongdoing is not vengeance but bearing that strange look you will face from the world.

And if enough bore that strange look with honesty and without shame, then that look that seems so strange right now, will become very familiar and thus very comfortable.

Thus, my friends, forgive.

When irritation mounts, forgive.

When strangeness collects and drives you in strange places, forgive.

When you are driven beyond the comfort zones of your own familiar thoughts, forgive.

Vengeance, is not the answer. Forgiveness is.

Thought

Sometimes when thought is spoken out aloud, it is so abstract and strange because it is a subconscious stream of meaning stringed together in the form of words.

It is strange in its rhythm and its patterns. It is like abstract art.

The sound of thoughts can be haunting. Sometimes when the frame of mind is not right, you are frightened merely to close your eyes.

For if thought in words is so strange, imagine what it would be to delve in its realm without words. To delve purely in thought through dreams.

We forget our dreams for it is a self defence mechanism. Because pure thought is dangerous.

It is dangerous to think beyond boundaries. Boundaries are our bodies that bind thought.

Boundaries are those instincts of survival that nature has so meticulously ingrained in our mind.

They are defence mechanisms that once crossed, leave us susceptible to pure freedom.

Free thought can be dangerously beautiful. Its beauty can manifest itself through acts of greatness or through acts of intense evil.

Human nature is very dark.

It is as dark as it is bright.

That is why we personify good as God and evil as the Devil.

When thought is free then one has to be very, very careful. But when thought is free, carefulness abandons you like a rotten apple.

In the garden of Eden, God put a tree. It was a tree that bore the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil.

With the knowledge of good and evil one is free to think because one can classify thought as good or evil and, if one has the maturity, to discard the evil thoughts.

But we, as the sages will tell you, are human; prone to error; resisting maturity as a ball and chain. So we think evil thoughts. And even though those thoughts may not get translated into action, they remain to haunt the goodness within our souls.

God did not want the haunting and therefore he gave us ignorance. And we blissfully ignored our ignorance and delved into the realm of free thought.

And there begins our greatest achievement and our greatest downfall.

Cognito Ergo Sum.

I am because I think.

The urge to simplify

The urge to simplify is born from a creative impulse: the DNA of self preservation of the human race.

Art

Art is nothing but an ejaculation of the soul when the humanness within you experiences an orgasm of reality, or surrealism or other impressionistic alternatives.

But it is an outpouring; an expression of creation.

Our natural instinct to survive is lost upon certain individuals in conventional ways.

Now the world calls such individuals - artists. But nature has ingrained in these individuals a different form of survival.

And their ejaculation is not of life, but of the soul.

And beauty is often misunderstood as something to be pursued only when you are idle and free, but to an artist, beauty is an occupation. And by virtue of being an occupation, beauty is also an occupational hazard.

For when one sees beauty without the sunglasses of humdrum and routine existence, that beauty can be blinding and evokes such passion; such desire to understand and to participate in it, that the realm of reality may be fractured and the artist may find himself drifting into alternative realities to explore beauty without being bothered with the humdrum exercises of routine.

Peace

And in our conflict - desire, how shall we then find peace? Is peace togetherness with the cosmic rhythm of life? Is peace merely music maintained through the madness of mundane mystic musing?

Where is peace? Where can I find it it, or you?

Where can we collectively find peace?

Peace is within us. Peace is talking to yourself through the madness. Peace is an expression of the self to the self. I can't remember who said it, but someone certainly said "Know thyself".

I would just like to add to the words and say, know thyself and ye shall find peace.

The problem will arise when you meet someone that shakes your beliefs in yourself. This person will not arrive announced. This person shall walk into your life and form the foundations of a new life.

A new life that you did not know yourself in. And that is a tumultuous period. But as you grow through that tumultuous period, you will discover more and more of yourself with these new foundations.

And if you manage to find peace with the new self, the world will say you are in love.

And if you cannot find that peace with your new world, then you will say that "I am in love".

Love exists in that change but what is important is who says you are in love. For if the world says that you are in love then it is a happy place to be. But if you say you are in love then it is like unrequited love.

And unrequited love is not peaceful.

To find peace in unrequited love, one must have a lot of unpleasant experience. And sometimes that experience builds up inside a soul and spills over upsetting the peace.

Therefore, peace under circumstances of unrequited love is like walking on egg shells. Peaceful in its whiteness, but unstable in its character.

Patience

And a very underestimated thing in life is patience. If you can listen to me speak at this pace, and are still with me following the drift of meaning along these sentences, then you will appreciate that one who was impatient could possibly miss upon some fundamental truths in life.

Now these days, everyone is out to make a quick buck. Everyone is out to get that good job. No one cares about what they want in life. No one has the patience to care.

If one does not care from the very outset, life and impatience must drive one to make a choice even if one is not equipped with the tools to do so.

And one cannot be patient enough to wait to be equipped with the tools.

For life itself is impatient and intolerant.

Not everyone can afford the luxury of patience.

Not everyone can afford the luxury of discovery.

And consequently, the world is full of souls meandering meaninglessly. Earning a quick buck and finding meaning elsewhere in routine, humdrum existence; in survival; in life. Forgetting and disconnecting with the soul.

And in this motley comedy of life, because we do not have the patience for spirituality, because we do not have, or cannot afford to sit and contemplate infinity ad infinitum, one is bound to find a shortcut through impatience and perhaps call it Religion.

And religion itself would have been fine with patience, but patience is not a luxury we can afford so we invent rituals.

And in these rituals and through these rituals, we get our shortcut prayers to God, or our conception or misconception of that spiritual body.

And these rituals gain meaning in our eyes creating a rhythm of impatience.

I am opening a shop. Let me pray. And because I do not have the patience to pray myself, let me call someone to pray for me. And let's call that ritual "puja" and feel happy about ourselves.

Where is the patience, friends? All you need is just a little patience. No guns, only roses.

Pain

And they said, what of pain. And all I could tell them about pain is that it is a useful tool. If it is not used as a tool, then it is a destructive force like water.

A river that flows with full force can be used to create electricity, but if that river is allowed to run free, it can cause floods and wash away villages and civilisations in its powerful destruction.

The same is with pain. If it is used carefully, pain can be used as a tool for creation. But if it is allowed to run free, it can cause maximum destruction.
